GHN — The report of a video showing a New York cop abusing a police K9 is just starting to get attention from people surfing the web.

The news of the video was reported by activist and film-maker Davy V on his blog. Davy wrote that the incident took place at the site of an investigation at Veterans Place in Rochester, NY’s southwest side , and was caught on video. It shows a female police officer kicking the police department’s dog “a full-blown blow to the rib cage” while on duty at the site.

Davy reported that the video, which was shot by people from a news channel on Saturday, October 6, had technical issues and was to be uploaded after formatting. It has now been posted on YouTube .

Davy also says that he called the Rochester, NY Police, to learn about the details of the incident. But the police refused to release the name of RPD officer who was caught on video kicking her K-9 partner, saying, “It’s a personnel matter.”

Rochester, NY Police department spokesperson Sgt. Justin Collins told Davy V that if there was something that didn’t follow in the standards of the RPD, then there would be some action taken.

“This either fits in our standard, or it doesn’t,” said Collins to Davy, as the latter reports.

The video of dog’s abuse comes to surface at a time when canine-friendly groups are demanding safe handling of dogs be made part of police training in the United States.

This officer shouldn’t of kicked the dog. If there was a problem she should have corrected in a different manner. This is called animal abuse wether its a personal matter or not. The dog is suppose 2 b a partner. U don’t go around kicking a human partner do u?

Cop or not, that ***h needs to be reprimanded for assault on a fellow officer!!!!!
K9 dogs are officers. She needs to have that dog taken away from her and kicked in the ribs
with steel toe boots as well!! **** her!!!!!!!!!

  • Tammy says:

when will this stop…. this cop needs to be brought up on charges and lose her job… this is wrong on so many levels…..it’s got to stop now!

  • Carolyn Palmer says:

THIS IS ANIMAL ABUSE, THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO CORRECT A DOG. SHE NEEDS TO BE CHARGED AND THE DOG TAKEN AWAY AND CHECKED OVER!!

  • Oh, I wish I could run into this skank on the street. Wish she’d kick me. Kick ANYONE who could kick back, for that matter. Now wth do you think would have happened if the dog had bitten her ass? He’d be a dead K9 officer, but she gets away with abusing him? I don’t think so. We will not tolerate it!

  • Wenda says:

These K-9 officers put their lives on the line to protect their partners. Would this be acceptable behavior if her partner was human?! The chief needs to step up and protect this innocent animal. If this is how she treats the dog in public, what happens behind closed doors?

What is also important people is there k-9 ALSO goes home with them so I can’t imagine what this poor dog has to endure at home with this woman.. the dog needs to be removed immediately.. Rochester has a horrible problem with also shooting OUR family pets.. shooting first covering up later.. things NEED to change in this city with OUR RPD when it comes to the ABUSE OF ANIMALS.. AND OR LACK OF TAKING CARE OF THE ONE WHO DO.

this is well to say the least not surprising here in rochester ny, i dont think the police officer are fans of dogs of any kind, they shoot family pets, there being sued right now for shooting a “pit bull” in the back of his head as he was running away. but to abuse a “part of your own family/team” the WORST part is though is there k-9 goes home with them imagine what this poor baby endures at this womens house?? the beautiful dog needs to be removed…

Bad human. If this dog did the same to the human she would have shot it. She must be on roids.

Freaking low life SCUM! That “officer of the law” needs a heap of ass woopin, maybe then she would understand cruelty to helpless animals is not right! If she gets fired which she should I hope she gets another job I hope it is cleaning toilets in a seedy motel, never be allowed to own an animal and a box of free pull ups for her pissy attitude towards animals!

  • jennifer says:

She should not be allowed to handle animals. Either fire her or put her on some kind of awful desk duty where she has no interaction with the public. If this what a nasty witch she is to her own dog – imagine being the person she is going after. Sick of these cops abusing/shooting dogs.

Sorry, when yoyour salary is paid with taxpayer dollars and the dog is bought and trained with taxpayer dollars it is not a ‘personal matter’. The officer needs to be suspended and investigated and possible charges filed and should never work with animals again.

  • Jennifer says:

The Officer should loose her job. She should be charged with Animal Abuse and Assault on a fellow Officer. She should have to pay a fine. She should never be able to own a pet again. She should have to do the maximum of community service at a local rescue, because the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation and the Sheriff sits on the Board of Director’s at the SPCA. What I don’t think (and many of you will not agree with me), is that she do time in jail. This is for her safety. I am a human and I do have a soul and would not want anything to happen to her while in there. If this video would have shown a worse beating or that she caused the animal to die, then it would be a different story. I am just as angry for the way she treated this fellow officer, due to her being the handler. But I do not wish harm upon anyone. Monroe County is getting their act together and it looks like it’s sooner than later. They also have been contacted by other Law Enforcement Agencies (from what I have heard) to better train all personnel.

BUT JUST THINK GUYS THIS IS ALSO HER PARTNER WHO SHE DEPENDS ON WHEN ON THE JOB,IF YOU WERE THIS DOG HOW MUCH WOULD YOU PROTECT HER AFTER BEING KICKED AND ABUSE BY HER.KARMA IS A BITCH AND DOES BITE BACK.

  • shannon graham says:

There is never a reason to kick a dog–any dog–a person in uniform should be an example of good behavior. Until police officers are held accountable for their actions, the public will continue to distrust them.
